Fucus: seaweed to lose weight?

Seaweed-FucusThe fucus vesiculus is a brown seaweed (brown-green, more precisely) which is known as single kelp. Although the alga Fucus vesiculus has many uses, from fuel and fertilizer to food for livestock, the wrack is also known to be a popular homeopathic remedy.

Discovering the wrack
This is a kind of seaweed kelp family (as kelp and other seaweed Ascophyllum). The bladder wrack is from the western shore of the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts of the North.

Fucus vesiculosus is a sea plant that is both flexible and resilient. Although brown-green in his lifetime, the wrack vesiculus turns black when it dries. Seaweed wrack vesiculus has a strong unpleasant odor and taste.

Fucus contains polysaccharides, polyphenols and minerals (especially iodine). Polysaccharides generally work to stimulate the immune system, while iodine works to stimulate the thyroid.

Fucus help lose weight?
Seaweed wrack vesiculus acts as a natural appetite suppressant that can increase satiety when it is consumed half an hour before a meal. Doing so, many people taking kelp find it helps them lose weight effectively.

Some people find that indeed the kelp promotes weight loss through the use of a patch or capsules containing the algae. Indeed, the wrack is proposed as a herbal medicine against obesity in many manufacturers of diet pills.

Because kelp is rich in iodine, experts believe that levels of iodine in the body increase by consuming capsules or wearing the patch. The body uses iodine to make thyroid hormone, which manages the body’s metabolism. Therefore, people who take the wrack can expect that there will be an increased production of thyroid hormone by taking capsules (or by wearing a patch), and increased metabolism of the body.

What you should know is that the body’s metabolism increases, a person may be able to lose weight more easily. Weight loss may be accentuated if taking capsules of kelp is parallel to a diet to lose weight and a physical training program.

Sweet and tart cherries: health benefits, eat to lose weight

The cherry is a small red fruit from the cherry tree, a plant of the genus Prunus (such as apricot, almond, peach, plum, etc.).. A little less famous than the strawberry, cherries are small fleshy fruits that have a nucleus, a spherical, often dark red color.

* Beta-carotene (provitamin A), cherry makes a record amount of beta carotene from fruits (0.4 mg per 100 g)
* Vitamin C
* B vitamins,
* From the dietary fiber (which is important for a healthy digestive system)
* Many minerals (discussed in the “Nutritional” at the bottom of page)
* A large amount of antioxidants.

Sour cherries contain more vitamin C and beta carotene than sweet cherries, they are strongly recommended if you want to get the best health benefits of a cherry, even though the 2 types of cherry provide great nutritional value. Tart cherries are also high in vitamin E.

One of the main health benefits of cherries is the ability demonstrated by various studies to help the body prevent some cancers (particularly colon cancer). This is due to the large amount of antioxidants found in cherries. These antioxidants are anthocyanins and quercetin (flavonoids) and phenolic acid amygdalin.

Anthocyanin gives the dark red cherries. In the body, this antioxidant is used to make essential amino acids. As an antioxidant, anthocyanin protects body cells from damage, aging and diseases caused by oxygen, nitrogen and UV radiation.

Sweet and tart cherries have also proven to reduce pain and inflammation caused by rheumatoid arthritis and gout (gouty arthritis, a disease characterized by excessive uric acid in the blood and attacks of arthritis) due to anthocyanins. An American study, eating 20 cherries a day (or drink the juice concentrate equivalent) per day can relieve as much pain as aspirin.

U.S. researchers have recently discovered that cherries contain a lot of melatonin, an important antioxidant for the immune system and present naturally in the body that could help slow the aging process, fight jet lag and regulate sleep . Eating cherries can greatly increase the amount of melatonin in the body. Studies have shown that people who suffered heart attacks have low melatonin levels.

Food Myths

Fact: To lose weight, you need to use more calories than you eat. You may eat any kind of food you want and lose weight. You need to limit the number of calories you eat daily and  increase your daily physical activity. The portion control is the key. Try eating smaller amounts of food and choosing foods that are low in calories.

Tip: When trying to lose weight, you can still eat your – favorite foods while you pay attention to the total number of calories that you eat.

Myth: Media low-fat or no fat no calories.

Fact: A food with low fat or nonfat is often lower in calories than the same sized serving of full-fat product. But many processed foods with little fat or fat are just as many calories as the full fat version of the same food or even more calories. May contain sugar, flour, starch or thickeners added to improve flavor and texture after fat is removed. These ingredients add calories.

Tip: Read the label on the nutrition facts on a food package to find out how many calories are in one serving. Check the serving size may also be less than you’re used to eating.

The “Yes” and “No” to diet

It seems that cravings and anxiety are intensified by eating when you’re dieting, do not they? The good news is that there are tried and true methods to help you move forward. Here I show some of them.

The proteins are digested more slowly than carbohydrates and fat and fewer calories than you can feel full. Lessen fibers during the meal digestion and absorb water, which expands your stomach and creates a feeling of satiety. Lentils and beans (eg, white, red, black, pinto and garbanzo beans) naturally combine protein and fiber in impressive quantities, so consider eating them in soups and salads or as a complimentary dish instead of rice or pasta.

Do not lose sleep
Recent studies have shown that lack of sleep can make you not fit their favorite jeans. When not enough sleep, your body produces more ghrelin, a hormone that you get hungry, and less leptin, a hormone that increases satiety. The discipline could allow resist, but why not give your body a good and deserved rest?

Reduce the size
Scientists at Cornell University and the University of Illinois explored the effect that causes the size of a plate in eating behavior and then published their findings in a highly respected journal like the Journal of the American Medical Association. The researchers found that those students who were facing a big dish served 53% more and ate 56% more food (equivalent to 142 calories) than those who served in a smaller plate. 142 calories if you do not sound like much, multiply it by three meals per day for 365 days. The result: 20 kilos per year increase. Think!

The location of fat is very important. The place where your fat is stored must be really taken into account. Abdominal fat is linked to heart disease and diabetes type 2. Those who “belly” should recognize this data even if it is no fun, if they want to progress in their fight against a “round belly”.

Women with a waist circumference greater than 85 cm and 100 cm in men are most at risk of heart disease, especially if the fat is located around the visceral organs like the liver (rather than only the variety grease that flutters to the surface).

The amount of calories consumed versus those expended really matters.  Reduce intake of calories to lose belly fat. If you think you can eat a specific food to reduce belly fat, think again. When you eat fewer calories than you used to spend, you will lose weight.

Do not let them fool you: you can not lose in two days what has won in months or years, goes against all logic and nature.
